Army Cadet charity cycle ride

With the glorious summer weather not letting up Essex Army Cadets completed the gruelling 150 mile cycle ride this Sunday in temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius.

 

The journey took the relay team of 21 riders through 38 towns and villages across the county including:

 

Chelmsford, Hatfield Peverel, Wickham Bishops, Tiptree, Colchester, Heckfordbridge, Hardy’s green, Messing, Kelvedon, Silver End, White Notley, Gt Leighs, Littley Green, Howe Street, Pleshey, High Easter, Leaden Roding, Matching Green, Matching Tye, Harlow, Warley, Hobbs Cross, Tilegate Green, Bovinger, Greenstead Green, Toothill, Coxtie Green, South Weald, Warley, Little Warley, Leigh on Sea, Rayleigh, Battlesbridge, Rettendon, East Hanngingfield, Butts Green, Sandon and Boreham.

 

Despite the warm weather the team completed the challenge in less than 14 hours.

 

Event organiser Lt Charlie Brown said: “The riders did an amazing job. Although I had hoped for good weather I wasn’t expecting it to be as hot as it was, but all the riders crossed the finishing line with a smile.”

 

The total collected so far for the Army Benevolent Fund is £1000 with still more to collect.
